In this episode, Chris shares his complete museum experience, beginning with Preview Day and a tour of the building’s striking layout. At the center is the massive “oculus,” with the library and an N-1 Starfighter on one side and the museum’s galleries on the other. Naturally, the first destination was the Cinematic Arts Gallery...better known to many fans as the Star Wars exhibit. It was the only gallery with its own queue, and it was packed with photo opportunities. We discuss which costumes and artifacts appeared to be original, which vehicles were recreations, and why many of the displayed prints were digital reproductions. But the Lucas Museum offers far more than Star Wars including: • Manga from the 1950s and ’60s • The fantasy artwork of Frank Frazetta and its connection to Conan • The Community Gallery and Frida Kahlo exhibit • An enormous collection spanning every kind of comic art • Batman’s costume from The Dark Knight • The inspiring work of Norman Rockwell • The enormous museum garden...oh, and how you can't get back in if you visit?! On Day 2, we returned for more galleries, a very long wait for the gift shop, and a meal at the Skywalker Grill. The food, drinks, and dessert were excellent, even if the pricing felt more distant than Tatooine.
